What People Are Saying

As Good As Can Be is a cheeky, enjoyable read. I'll admit I was worried this would be a bit darker than it was. The opening line made me laugh, and after the first chapter I was excited to read the rest of the book. Not your typical historical fiction, but that's not a bad thing! Following Dave and his family is a ride you don't want to miss.

Overall, I really enjoyed the authenticity of this novel. The author interwoven his knowledge of being in the army into a beautiful story that grips you and, at times, tugs at your heartstrings. It is hard to write historical novels while staying true to the times and keeping the reader engaged. But Author Glass achieved both of those things. I definitely recommend getting your copy of this novel. It won’t disappoint. The amount of thought and research the author put into this novel makes it shine!

As Good As Can Be is a novel that I struggled to put down, which is quite rare for me. It was the book's characters that kept me reading long past our bedtime. The author is a magnificent story teller.  No detail is left unsung, and even though Glass' descriptions may at times seem to go above and beyond the call of duty, it is this dedication that lends the novel its charm.

I was very kindly sent a copy of this novel by William A. Glass the author in exchange for an honest review, and I give it four stars.
